How to Create & Utilize Groups Successfully on Main Court

Step 1: Create Your Group

Start by pressing the “Groups” button on the bottom left of the Octobox on the home page. After entering Groups press “New+”. Fill out the required group details, such as name, type of group, skill level, location, a brief description of the purpose of your group, and if you want others in the area to see your group (Public or Private Group).

Make sure to upload a photo for easier identification and personalization!

Step 2: Share Publicly & Group Members to Invite Others

Decide if you want other picklers to be able to share your group publicly. Having this off will only allow you to share the group publicly. Toggling this on will allow other picklers to share your group publicly.

Decide if you want other group members to invite others in the group to matches. With this feature toggled off, only the group owner will be able to invite group members to matches. Toggling this on, will allow all group members the ability to invite other group members to matches.

Step 3: Add Members / Send Out Invites / View Requests

Once you have created your group click on the Settings button (three dot menu) on the top right-hand side of your screen and select “Invite Members.” To invite players that already have a Main Court profile, you can do so in 3 different ways:

  1. Manually type in the player you are looking for
  2. Scroll through the default list of players that will appear in alphabetical order
  3. Select the filter menu (on the top right-hand side) and set your preferences. You can create a list of players based on the radius of your location, if you are friends on Main Court or even by Skill Level

You can also view picklers who have requested to join your group. Do so by navigating to Group Details and locating the “View Requests” button on the bottom.

Step 4: Invite Players who DO NOT have a Main Court Profile

You have the ability to share your Group to players that have not downloaded Main Court or have not yet created a Player Profile on Main Court. THIS FEATURE IS ONLY FOR GROUPS SET TO “PUBLIC.”
Click on the Share button that is to the immediate left of the Settings menu (three-dot menu) on the top right-hand side of your screen and select “Copy.” This will copy the hard URL link that will send recipients directly to your group to join. Recipients of the link still must “Request to Join” and the admin of the group must approve for the recipient to officially be admitted into the group.

Step 5: Making Changes to Your Group

You can always make changes to your group once it is created. If you decide in the future you would like to change your group from Public to Private you may do so! You can also change the Home Court, Type of Group, and Skill Level. As the admin you will be able to edit the members in your group.

Step 6: Chat With Your Group

Utilize the Chat feature in your group so that you can send out messages for upcoming events or ask your group members questions such as “Which ball do you all prefer to play with?”. This group chat remains internal and non-group members will not be able to view the chat.

Step 7: Create Matches

If you select the Let’s Dink button in your Group Home Page, you can create a Match. Creating a match within your group will automatically send a notification to your group members that a match in the group has been created for members to join.

Step 8: View Members

Group Owners and Group Members can view all members in the group be pressing “View Members.” Non-members can also view all members of public groups before deciding if they want to join.

Step 9: Delete Group

We’re sad it’s come to this, but we understand that sometimes there is value in addition via subtraction. If you’re sure about deleting your group, navigate to group details and click on the settings button (3 dot-menu) on the top right. From there press “Delete Group,” then “Delete.” Once a group is deleted you will NOT be able to recover the group.
