How to Run a Successful Lesson on Main Court

Step 1: Create the Lesson

Start by clicking on the + button in the middle of the bottom toolbar, then press lessons. From here you can decide on creating a private lesson or a group lesson. Fill in your lesson information: title, location, date & time, etc. Set your lesson to “Open” so that Main Court users can see it.

Important Note: Creating a lesson is only available for approved Main Court coaches. If you’re not an approved coach and want to be, please fill out this form and a Main Court team member will follow up with you shortly.

Step 2: Create Additional Time Slots

To save time, create more time slots by selecting “Recurring Lesson Event.” This duplicates information from the previous information input on the lesson while adding more time slots. You can create a “recurring lesson event” for every day, every week, every 2 weeks, every month and every year. Once this section has been finalized, press “next” to continue.

We recommend using the “Custom” feature so you can choose an “end date” for your recurring lesson. Coaches that use the “custom” recurring feature tend to set their recurring lessons for a month out. If you select one of the other options, your reoccurring lesson will not have an end date and will be indefinitely recurring until you delete or make changes to your lesson.

Step 3: Invite Students

Use Main Court’s filters to invite students by skill level. You can select players from your friends list, groups, or network. Invites are sent via app notifications and emails. Ensure your students know where to find the invites under the notification area of the app.

Note: If you create a lesson where the skill level is set for students between 3.5-4.0, students outside that skill range will not be able to be invited to your lesson. Make sure you know your students’ skill range when creating lessons, or simply select “Any” so you can invite a broad range of students.

If you invite more than one student, you can set a priority order. This means player(s) and group(s) in group 1 will be sent invites immediately, with subsequent groups following at a 1-hour interval.

Managing Your Lessons

Step 4: Reinvite Players

Seven days after sending your initial invites, you can reinvite players or invite new ones who have downloaded the app since your first invite. Use the “View/Invite” section to manage invites. To find this page, first press “lessons” on your homepage, then swipe to the “scheduled” section.

Step 5: Use Email for Lesson Communication

Regular communication with players via email is key. Inform them about your lesson and any updates leading up to the event. This function works especially well for group lessons. Send reminder emails to confirmed players and ask them to invite others to join.

Step 6: Export Lesson Data

Use the export function to get an email with Excel worksheets detailing player information.  This works particularly with many players in a group lesson. To find this page, press the lesson and scroll to “confirmed students.”

Step 7: Promote Your Lesson

Go into your lesson and hit the “Share on Social Media” button. From there, you can share via SMS, WhatsApp, email, etc. by pressing “more.”  The share option will provide an image and the tournament URL.

For Instagram or Facebook: After selecting the social media platform, the lesson link is automatically copied. Be sure to paste the link into the text area on your social media post.

Tagging: Tag @maincourtpickleball on Instagram and @maincourt on Facebook to increase visibility.

Sending to Main Court: Send the lesson image to the Main Court team via DM or to info@maincourt.com, so we can post and promote it for you. If you put on weekly lessons, get in touch with the Main Court team and we’ll make sure to include you on our newsletter.

Step 8: Manage Payments and Refunds

Players pay through Main Court’s integrated payment system, which handles all fees transparently. Organizers receive full lesson fees, while players cover the platform and Stripe fees.  Main Court fee is 2% and Stripe is 2.9% + $.30.

Refunds are processed automatically if a player or coach cancels more than 24 hours before the event.

Step 9: Cancellation

Players and coaches cannot cancel a lesson less than 24 hours before the lesson start time. If a player does, a refund will NOT be rewarded. If a coach does not attend the lesson, please contact info@maincourt.com for support. If you have to cancel a lesson, go into the lesson, scroll down and press “cancel lesson.”

Step 10: Use the Waitlist

Utilize the waitlist feature when a lesson is full to manage overflow. Communicate proactively with players on the waitlist to keep them informed if spots open (this especially works well with group lessons).

When you accept a player from the waitlist for a paid lesson, the player will get notified that they have been added from the Waitlist. However, until the register and pay they will not be added to the division and other players accepted from the waitlist may register sooner so encourage people to register quickly.

Step 11: Create Another Lesson

Once the lesson is over, you have a choice to recreate the same lesson.

Step 12: Thank the participants and notify them of upcoming lessons

We recommend going to your past lessons and sending an email to your participant(s) thanking them for attending and notifying them of your upcoming lessons. This is a great way to show your appreciation and keep players up to date on future lessons.

Note*: consider creating a group with all your students in the future. This way you can easily invite them to lessons. An advanced coach will create different groups based on skill and/or location, to invite different groups to different lesson types.
